Josué Medellín-Azuara is an adjunct fellow at the PPIC Water Policy Center, an associate professor of environmental engineering at the University of California, Merced, an associate director at the UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences and an associate director at the UC Agricultural Issues Center. His research and expertise includes the economics of agricultural, environmental and urban water uses; the development of large-scale economic models for water supply; adaptation to climate change, and integrated water management. He has consulted for government agencies, NGOs, industry, and academia, including the Natural Heritage Institute, the Stockholm Environment Institute, the World Bank, the Catholic University of Chile and the University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. He has served as an official for the California Water and Environmental Modeling Forum since 2013. He was the 2017 Steyer-Taylor Fellow at the Water Policy Center. He holds a PhD in ecology from the University of California, Davis. He also has degrees in engineering, business, and economics.
