Kerry Hattevik

Kerry Hattevik is vice president of policy development at NextEra Energy, with a responsibility to develop national and regional strategies to support growth, advance new products and technologies, and create new clean-energy market opportunities across the county. Previously, she was vice president of NextEra Energy Resources and president of Transbay Cable, a FERC-regulated utility that supplies 47 percent of San Francisco’s power. She joined the company in 2009 and for the first 11 years, she acted as regional executive director of West government affairs, responsible for government affairs in the 12 western states including state houses, governors’ offices, utility commissions, and the California Independent System Operator. Her previous positions were with NRG Energy and Mirant Corporation. In those roles she led the company’s West regulatory strategy with a focus on California market rules and environmental regulations impacting natural gas facilities. She also worked for seven years as both a commissioner advisor and analyst at the California Public Utilities Commission, where she worked on a range of regulatory policy, market, and ratemaking issues. She serves on the boards of the CA Chamber of Commerce, Bay Area Council, and the California Foundation on the Economy and the Environment, where she serves on the investment advisory committee. She has also served on the board of the Renewable Northwest Project, an organization comprising private sector and nonprofit interest groups brought together for the advancement of renewable energy and climate goals. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies, political science, and Spanish from the University of Oregon and an MS degree in energy and environmental management from the Norwegian School of Business in Sandvika, Norway.
